Bye Coos Bay - Heading to Eureka!!!

Hello from the Pacific Ocean just west of Cape Blanco ( the westernmost point in the Lower 48)! Maybe I am getting my sea legs...this is the first time while on the passage that I have felt like coming below to type would be a good idea. The weather system that brought gale force winds has subsided so we are making our break to continue south. Coos Bay ( really we were in Charleston) was a good place for a break and we did get to enjoy an amazing hike from Sunset Beach to Cape Arago. I definitely recommend this 8.5 mile RT hike to anyone as it is mellow and provides off-the-hook scenery. Every turn offers picturesque views and secluded beaches. We also enjoyed the Seven Devils Brewery with some live music with other cruisers and that was fabulous. We are heading to Eureka, California and will re-evaluate our passage making around Cape Mendocino.  This well-known landmark can often have some challenging weather brewing around it.

Lots of red crab and only 1 dungeness crab -We were gifted some dungeness by a marina neighbor and ate them the night before we left. No shellfish license needed due to Labor Weekend:)

Crab pot throw from swim step on Soulstice. The entire marina had crabs pots tied to every cleat. Families participate in this every Labor Day weekend.

At the brewery with great outdoor seating, fire pit and intimate music venue.

Brian Ernst - one man musician and loops music. Rhythmic genius! So fun and good soul - he is the founder of Journey4YOUth, a nonprofit organization,  that gives aid to community in Rusinga, Kenya. He is on Spotify!

Bob and Pam ( crew for SV Agatha on the left) Bill ( owner of SV Agatha), Stephen and I, Dave and Kelly (SV Arctos) and Steve and Chelsea ( SV Jean Anne) .

Yep the $20 infomercial purchase is a SUCCESS! It was a very windy day and the bag filled up in 2 min! We only have one and we did share it but I think I need my own 😜
