Glacier Bay National Park July 1-July 7, 2023
Waaahooooo!!! This was our final destination north.
So… we have seen glaciers before!! Glacier NP in Montana, where I still have a lovely house in Columbia Falls, MT just outside the west entrance of the park, Patagonia, SE Alaska, and Canadian Rockies… BUT, BUT…this is the FIRST time I have seen glaciers and reveled in ice flow and the glacier modeling evolution by having these sightings via OUR OWN sailboat!
It is an effort no doubt to have a boat, maintain it and have it be a safe sailing vessel in advanced waters. Alaska has big tidal swings, significant currents similar to white water, and anchorages that do not give a good night’s sleep but HERE WE ARE and rockin’ it!!!
This journey north has been full of fun, education on different waterways, and the persistent dominant presence of the amazing talents of Mother Nature in full force!! We feel incredibly grateful for this journey and the experiences that will forever enhance our time spent on this generous planet.
